Just as the race was finishing the rain started again so we had a quick walk to the finish line and had some goodbye drinks with our English neighbours. We noticed some Motorhomes were starting to leave, but not too many, so we decided to get off the mountain tonight rather than very early tomorrow morning, as tomorrow the road was going to close again due to the tour leaving from from the village at the bottom. Total craziness. People are camped on the side of the road, the tour trucks trying to get down on the otherside and even some cars are trying to come up the road. Madness!

Tour de France on Alpe d'Huez
After having spent yesterday wondering around the village and enjoying the vibe, today was the day the riders came to town. We set off at 9am and walked along the route in the village. We originally planned to walk down to a bend but as it was raining and there was a spot where the riders pass twice we decided to stay. We were amongst Australians and English, so the 9 hours actually went quite quickly. The atmosphere was fun and it was exciting to see the riders.
