St Jean d'Avery-Tour de France Stage 20th July

Travelled:89km
Stay: near St Jean d'Avery on side of road  45.58863, 6.00754

We stopped in an Aire in Challes les Eaux to dump and fill then went off to find a spot along the road. We didn't take long to stop about 4 km out of St.Jean d'Avery.

By the end of the day we were amongst 15 other Motorhomes. We chatted to four friendly French brothers from Dijon. The next morning we walked back down to town to buy some baguettes. We couldn't believe that we saw the Motorhome we were going to buy second hand from France Motorhome Hire.

After walking back up the hill, as Mark was unsuccessful in hitching a ride, we settled down to clap and encourage the pre- race riders, many being Australians. We were  then invited to have l'aperitive with the brothers...the beginning of the end for us! After a few Ricards, Mark found himself dressed up as a Tahitian. The brothers had an extra costume! After a few more drinks we acknowledged the tour riders. As soon as they passed people began to pack up to leave. I had had it and collapsed on the bed and promptly fell asleep. An hour or so later, I wake up to find Mark asleep in a chair with all other Motorhomes gone bar one, an Englishman we later have a good chat with. Worse for wear, we decide it best for us to stay put and head off the next morning.
