Domme to Martel

Travelled: 96km
Stay : free Aire Martel  44.93548, 1.60715

Visited some lovely villages along the Dordogne River. Domme is a classic bastide (fortified) town with streets in a geometric pattern, rather than circular. Very pretty buildings and great views of the valley. We then stopped to walk around la Roque Gageac. This once bustling port is now dependant on the tourist trade. The buildings here are strung along the cliff side and boarder the river. Very picturesque. After a short stroll in Sarlat-la-Canéda, we stopped at an Aire in Martel. Again we were delighted by the  village where the buildings are made in limestone plateau and the walls and ceiling inside the church are still painted in original patterns.
