Drive to Madrid

Travelled:226km to Madrid
Stay: Madrid near Valdebernado metro. Large free parking area next to hospital and supermarket. N40.396542 W3.619650

It was a disappointing start to the day... we reversed poor Bluey into a pole! and yes the bumper bar has again been damaged as well as a bit of the main panel.  After the initial frustration had subsided and upon closer inspection Mark felt confident that he could do the repairs. What an amazing man!

Interim repairs.. More to come!

Unfortunately the bump had also buckled his bike wheel. Luckily there was a bike shop around the corner so using the translator app on the phone we managed to get him to fix it for €15 but had to come back at 1pm.  We spent the time walking around town, visiting a museum and then chatting to a lovely Irish/Welsh couple who are fulltimers.
Leaning towers! No need to go to Pisa!

 Bulging walls.

Ancient dwellings in the cliffs.

Pretty tiles on walls.

The ancient gateway

Ruins from a nearby Roman village.

Just got to love nature with its colours and amazing patterns.

We finally got on the road at 2pm and after a couple of mountain passes we encountered rain. We decided to stop in a small village we fortified ouselves with a cooked lunch before driving to Madrid.

The road was good and not very busy being a Saturday. We finally arrived at 6:30pm and after Mark had a chat to another camper who has been here for 4 nights without trouble, we felt confident to stay. Tonight we plan for our visit to Madrid tomorrow.
