Bellac

Travelled: 219km
Visited and Stay: Bellac- Aire free parking and services. Lovely spot next to a park. N46.11480 E1.05188

After taking some time this morning to sort ourselves out a bit, we headed towards Limoges. We started on the national road but after being stuck in traffic we thought we would speed things up and take the toll road. This was the start of a very long journey.... Firstly we must have lost concentration at the payment gate because we ended up heading North instead of South. Oh well it's was only 4km to the next exit. Only to find out that it was closed! So we had to keep going to the next exit where we had to pay €2.80 again. We then had to do a u-turn and take another ticket to get back on the autoroute and double back. We were finally going the right way only to find that the traffic had basically come to a stand still and the next exit was 25km away! We had no choice but to grin and bear it for the next 2 hours until we could make our escape. The only good thing is that it was a cold and rainy day.

After stopping for a quick shop and some heart warming gallettes for lunch we took the quiet and picturesque country back roads to our final destination of Bellac.

After a long day driving, the aire was a welcoming sight set beside a treed park along a small river with the ancient town perched on the hill. We enjoyed stretching our legs and going for a walk over the 13th century bridge, taking a look at the 12th century church and strolling through the narrow streets lined with ancient buildings. A lovely end to the day.
Cheers to the end of a long day.

The french offer some great facilities for the handicapped.

A Citroen in the best colours.

Tonight's dinner.
