On the road to Venice

Travelled:134km
Stay: San Giuliano/Venice - closed caravan park, free parking, no services GPS N 45.46675 E12.28078
Before we set off towards Venice we went into Soave to have a look at the craft market.
We then travelled on the SS11, which was lined nesfly all the way with shopping centres. Just before reaching Venice the road followed a canal with large stately homes and a couple of castles. We had chosen a caravan park next to the largest Eutopean urban park in San Giuliano, which is situated just before the bridge taking you into Venice. Unfortunately it was closed and has been turned into a carpark with 2m height barrier. We did notice a motorhome parked there so we found a way in and they said that the fellow at the gate told them they could stay for free. So here we parked too! Nothing like a freebee. We walked over to see about taking the boat over to Venice- first one leaves at 9:30am then one every hour and the last boat back is 6pm at a cost of €15 return. Thinking that it was a bit time restrictive and costly we went for a drive over the bridge to have a look at the parking area and saw lots of motorhomes parked there at a cost of €21/12hrs and then €16/12hrs after that. So we decided to go back to San Giuliano for tonight as it was getting late and drive there tomorrow morning. We had a pleasant walk through the well used urban park before dinner.
