Dolomites Italy

Travelled:142km
Visited:Ega Valley, Pozza di Fassa, Passo Pordoi, Passo Falzarego
Stay:Walking Parking Area on SS51 on the way to Misurina, free, no services GPS N46°37.4382 E12°11.4612

We had a 'wow' of a day travelling through a part of the Dolomite area with amazing views of the colour and formations of the mountain peaks. It was a pity it was overcast with the clouds hanging on but still tremendous. The villages were also so pretty and colourful and not one building was the same shape or design.
We began our day by quickly driving out of Bolzano and into the Ega Valley. We stopped for breakfast and supplies in Nova Levante before continuing our journey along the S241.

Our next stop was in Pozza di Fasso, which we enjoyed walking around admiring the buildings and the views.

From here we zigzagged our way up to Passo Pordoi 2239m.

We spent a bit of time here but did not take the cable car as the peak was in the clouds most of the time. Then Mark had his work cut out for him as he took Bluey down 33 switchbacks...and also having to contend with the buses, motorbikes, cars and bicycles.

We continued on over the next Passo Falzarego before winding our way down and through Cortina d'Ampezzo.

As it was getting late, we just wanted to head to the aire 5km out of town. Unfortunately it no longer exists. This has happened alot in Italy, so on our way to another aire we spotted a parking area that didn't have a sign 'No Camper'. We decided to stop here as we were too tired to drive to the next place and find that one is closed too!
