Verona

Travelled:0km -Bluey, a few km by bike and on foot
Visited: Verona
Stay: Verona- as per last night
We had a lovely day wondering about the pretty streets of Verona, which is best known for its setting of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. It has always been a prosperous place, being an important Roman town and it also flourished during the Renaissance era. This is reflected in the variety of architecture in the town. We set off early on our bikes to try and beat the crowds especially at the so called 'Juliet's House'. The balcony was added to the 13th century building due to tourists demand. Apparently the fondling of the right breast of the statue of Juliet in the courtyard will bring you a new lover. Luckily Mark behaved himself!  We visited the house which had some nice features but not alot of exhibits.
Romeo?

Juliet?

The tacky side of love.
Bandaids!

Chewing gum!

And padlocks!

If you forgotten to bring it with you, you can buy it here!

The rest of the day we managed to see most of the sites. Piazza delle Erbe - a large square lined with some lovely buildings and a market.

 Piazza dei Signori.

Romeo's House.

The Roman amphitheatre - arena now used for opera productions. Piazza Bra.

Sant Anastasia - a gothic church.

The Duomo.

Refreshments

Castelvecchio- red brick fortress with swallowtail battlements and bridge.

Later in the afternoon we went back to Bluey for a rest before heading out again in the early evening.
