Bolzano

Travelled:245km
Visited:Bolzano
Stay:Bolzano-free parking, free services GPS N46.47417 E11.32617 Bolanzo Sud train station
This morning we drove through Mantova and then took the autostrade for 178km to Bolzano and it only cost €12.90. Amazingly cheaper than France.

The autastrade solar panel wall.

Once parked next to a few other motorhomes,
we took the train the 4km into the centre for €1.50 each way. It was lovely and new.

Although the town was given to Italy at the end of WWI there is still a Germanic feel to the town centre and an emersion of cultures. As we strolled through the streets we admired the buildings.

We visited the Duomo with its elaborate steeple and coloured tiled roof.
As we walked through the market we bought our first apple strudel...yum.

We then took a look in the Franciscan Church and its lovely cloister.

Love this unusual roof.

We did a bit of window shopping along the historic arcades
These two gentlemen are wearing lederhosens (traditional leather shorts)

One of the stores had some amazing wooden carvings of well known local mountaineers.

Not sure I want to rely on a little bell to keep the bears away!

Lovely traditional dresses.

and found a church made from the local red rock. Inside there were some beautiful frescoes, but as people were praying I took no photos.

Before taking our 6mn train ride back to Bluey we sat in Walther Square for a while enjoying the atmosphere.

Some interesting entertainment.
