Cassis - route des Cretes France

Travelled: 56km
Stay: 1 night - free/wild camping in parking along Route des Cretes, Cassis  43.19081, 5.55547

We drove to the medieval village of Le Castellet via Bandol. We had some great views of the surrounding vineyards and all the way back to the coast. Beautiful.

We then stopped in La Ciotat, the first beach town of the Côte d'Azur. Had a walk along the beach and then after lunch we went on the Routes des Cretes towards Cassis. We stopped several times along the road and walked along the cliffs of Cap Canaille. This area boasts the steepest cliffs in Europe that go into sea. Magnificent views of Cassis and the Calanques (on the western side).

We were lucky to find a flat spot and decided, as we have heard that parking in Cassis is a nightmare, to stay here the night.
