Great Western Tiers Tasmania

We began the day with a lovely 30mins walk through a beautiful rainforest along Liffey Creek from the campsite.

We are in the Great Western Tiers area and as we drive through the valley they are a constant back drop.

The National Trust classified riverside town of Deloraine has plenty historic buildings. It is also Tasmania’s largest inland town. We take a stroll up and down the main street and check out a few of the sculptures.

Further west we stop to do another 30mins walk to the Alum Cliffs. The track takes us to a lookout 200m above the Mersey River and the cliff lined gorge.

We call it a day at Honeycomb Caves National Park camp spot.Of course we had to go and have a look at the cave. At the entrance we soon realised we needed to be wearing gum boots to go any further as the water is at least ankle deep.
