To Lamberts Centre NT

It was a lot fresher this morning to enjoy the 37° waters of the Dalhousie Springs.
Then it was time to pack up and hit the road again. The conditions were similar to yesterday so it was slow going.
An hour later we stopped for a cuppa at Opossum waterhole.
We eventually rolled into Mt Dare Hotel at 11am. Apparently it’s South Australia’s most isolated pub.

It’s a popular stop for those heading to the Simpson Desert.
They have created a lovely oasis.
We enjoyed a drink and a chat to the blokes behind the bar.

It was lovely to capture the budgies up close
10km further in we crossed the border into the Northern Territory.
At the Charlotte Waters homestead ruins we had some lunch. On our way to Finke we stopped to chat with the New Crown cattle station owner as he was mustering his 2000 head of cattle into the yards ready for transportation. His station is 8,000 square kilometres and has 1 cow per 1 square kilometre. He told us his son and daughter each own neighbouring properties and he is happy to have his grandchildren close by. A very friendly chap.

We drove through Finke and the road remarkably improved until we turned off to Lamberts Centre!

It took us 45mins to do 12km. We managed to get photos of a couple of lizards along the way.

Lucky it’s the end of the day for us after 206km it’s time for a beer and put the fans on as it’s again 35° in Buster.
