Lake Pamamaroo Menindee NSW

On our way out of Pooncarie we stop off at the dump point and then continue on north to Menindee. The road is currently being worked on and is nearly all bitumen with the dirt sections being in good to drive on. Having visited the area 3 years ago, we just pop in at the Tourist Office and then make our way out of town to Lake Pamamaroo. One of the four lakes that are part of the Menindee Lakes Storage Scheme.

We manage to find a lovely little spot to camp on the shores of the lake and settle in for the next 3 nights.

The days are spent with walks along the shore and the Darling River.
As expected there are plenty of birds including the red tailed black cockatoo.
We have a look at the Burke and Wills  campsite.

A little further on there are the weirs that regulate the waters out into the lower Darling River.

The wind whipped up some wave action too. Unfortunately it’s been too windy to get the drone out.
In the evenings we watched the sunset glow across the lake with the trees silhouetted against the orange sky.
