Today we caught up with Mike and Jan, fellow Motorhomers we first met in 2013 in Bruges, Belgium. Since then we have managed to catch up in Europe and the Uk but never in Australia until now. We are in their home town so we were lucky to get chauffeur driven around some lovely treed suburbs that have mega mansions with amazing views of the Swan River and Perth city.
Our main activity for today was a tour of the Optus Stadium. This multipurpose stadium was officially opened in 2018 and has a capacity of 60,000 -70,000. The tour was informative with some interesting facts … too many. Check out the website if you want to know more (optusstadium.com.au).

View of Perth
The Black and White Swan bridge…although white swans are not native to Australia, some were imported in the 1800’s of which a small population still survives in WA.
We visited a corporate box, the media box, the coaches box, the change rooms, warm up rooms and recovery rooms … it was an extensive tour..
We revived ourselves with some lunch at the café before heading back to the shores of the Swan River to play another series to our WA vs VIC pétanque championship. WA won in France, VIC put a point on the tally board in Croatia. At first it appeared WA would sneak in another win but in the end VIC were victorious…

Ideal weather, great company, a "unique" Optus tour...all in all a lovely day, marred only slightly by the flogging of WA by the pesky Vics in the petanque championship (we'll even up the score next time we meet!) Great to finally catch up, have a safe journey home with lots of adventures along the way. Cheers! Jan & Mike.
