Stay: Wellington NP -Potters Gorge campsite $18pn seniors
After a wet, gusty and road noisy night we got ourselves organised and drove off before 9am. We filled up on some Coles fuel and then continued onto Bunbury. The town was built around the port which originally moved wheat but now it is woodchip and alumina. We parked up next to the information centre and got loaded up with maps etc. the town boomed in the 19th century becoming a seaside resort for miners flush with gold.
One of the main attractios are the bottlenose dolphins that frequent the bay and approach the shoreline on a regular basis…. No luck for us today!
There are several panoramic lookouts, beaches and historical sites to explore.
Unfortunately the weather was deplorable and our enthusiasm for site-seeing diminished accordingly.
So we headed east to Collie, a coal mining town, starting in 1923 and still going…

that was built in 1933. The place is currently getting a revamped but we managed to get a couple of different angles of the dam wall.
