Day 32/Spain 7
Travelled: 162km to Leon and then to Bonar (stayed the night €3 42.8700, -5.3288)We began the day with driving 116km from our overnight stay in Osorno into Leon.
Leon began as a Roman military camp and became the capital of a kingdom in the Middle Ages. During the 13th and 14th centuries the gothic style cathedral was built.
It’s most impressive feature being the 1800square metres of stain glass made up from 125 large windows and 57 smaller ones. We paid €7 each and downloaded the QR audio guide which we listened to whilst admiring the colour and details of the interior of the cathedral.
We made our exit via the Cloister which had very decorative ceilings and remains of murals.
We returned to Bluey for the Bombers game. Unfortunately they lost again even tho Mark had the lucky top on…disclosure: photo was taken before the game
Later we walked back to the historic quarter and meandered through the alleyways and along the grand boulevard and into the Plaza Mayor.
Unfortunately our parking spot affords no shade so we decide to pack up, use the services and head for the hills. Around 40km later we were under the shade on the banks of a river in Bonar with a nice breeze. A couple came around later to collect €3 fee for our overnight stay (this is the first time this trip we have paid to stay overnight!) and so ends another day in Spain.
