Travelled: 74km to Arrens-Marsous, Lac Tech, Argeles-Gazost, Pont d’Espagne €7/day and Cauterets free stay in carpark (42.8915.-0.1150)
Our first stop was in Arrens-Marsous, 2 associated small villages, that has a lovely atmosphere with some lovely buildings. We bought our baguette and had a walk around.
Not far from town was Lac du Tech, a dam situated at 1207m alt for the EDF hydro electricity, had has many walks on offer.
We had another wonderful day in the Pyrenees. Once again we awoke surrounded in clouds but once we started down into the valley we left the clouds behind.

We thoroughly enjoyed the 5.5km return trip. We ate lunch on he shores of Lac du Tech before returning via Areens and continuing on the Argeles-Gazost. We cheekily parked in the centre square just as the weekly market was packing up and wondered off in search of the tourist office. We did not linger and continued on to the Pont d’Espagne as the weather is meant to deteriorate, arriving to the end carpark (€7) at 3:30pm. It was too late for the chairlift to the lake (€10.50 each) that we had done in 2014. We were happy to wonder around the Pont d‘Espagne which stands at the confluence of 2 rushing mountain streams. Built in 1886 along an old pastoral road that was a commercial passage between France and Spain. Unfortunately our luck so far (3rd time today) with the weather has not been great ie rain every time …
so we venture back down the mountain to Cauterets, a renown spa town with typical examples of the belle-epoque buildings. After parking up we ventured into town and enjoyed the music being played next to the Marie as part of a festival. We were pleasantly surprised to bump into the Australian couple we met in Feunte De.. what a coincidence!
Some great photos, the weather looks much milder now.
