Dinkelsbuhl Germany

Travelled:44km
Stay: Dinkelsbuhl- stellplatz parking €6/24hrs, paid service point N49.6359 E10.3270

We had a little relief from the heat this morning with a small thunderstorm rolling by. It finished as quickly as it started so we decided to go and have another quick look in Rothenburg. We walked to the main square and located the building with the o’clock that has mechanical puppets come out of the window on the hour to celebrate the saving of the town by the mayor. He had won a bet by sculling 5 pints of wine. It is also a yearly festival.. imagine the wine consumption then! Anyway, it appears 8am isn’t a touristy hour so we missed out on the show.

So we walked back along the extensive defensive wall to Bluey and prepared for our short journey to the charming walled town of Dinkelsbuhl.

We parked in P2, a dedicated motorhome area and had a short stroll to one of the gate houses to enter the town.

There were plenty of pretty coloured buildings setting off the cobbled streets as well as some half timbered houses.

This town is smaller than Rothenburg and not as touristy...there was not one tourist shop in sight! We followed the walking tour map seeing all the sights and then enjoyed a tasty lunch at a butcher cafe.

After spending the rest of the afternoon back at camp we returned into town for some dinner. Unfortunately the brewery was fully booked, but we managed to find another restaurant and had some tasty ribs before calling it a day.
