Black Sea Romania

Travelled:91km
Stay: Black Sea south of Costinesti, free cliff top area N43.9279 E28.6345

On our way out of Cernavoda we stopped for diesel and we managed to filled up on water as well. We then drove along the A2 towards Constanta but turned south before the port city and drove over the Danube canal and saw the last lock before it entered into the Black Sea.

Further north is the Danube delta which is a world heritage site due to its geological and ecological importance. We continued our journey on R#39 and at 9am the traffic was getting heavy with people making their way to the beach. Along the route there was plenty of people advertising accommodation.

We passed a few traffic hotspots and then turned left towards Costinesti...the traffic was even worse here. Our destination was north from but we decided it wasn’t worth it, so we headed south and couldn’t believe that there was no one around. We spotted a track and found a spot overlooking the Black Sea with a beautiful sea view and a refreshing breeze. Admittedly, although there was a track down to the water, there was no beach which could explain its unpopularity. But we were happy and so decided this was it for the day. Mark listened to the Bombers game and I caught up on bookwork and photo downloads. Later we enjoyed a delicious bbq steak and tonight we will sleep with the sound of the waves...
