We took advantage of the beautiful weather this morning and went for a walk along the coastal path to the next mine called Levant.
Unfortunately all the National Trust mines in the area are closed on Saturdays so we could only wander around the outside. There was a few information boards explaining what the buildings were used for.
We wandered back and drove along the narrow roads that were a bit more stressful today, being a weekend and sunny, Mark had to deal with not only cars but bikes and motorcycles too.
The worst were the buses that took up the whole road, luckily there was a driveway we could back up into. Phew.
So we decided that we would get off the smaller roads and take the A30 and A39 to Trerice, a National Trust property. Built by the Arundell family in 1573 the great hall and chamber of this small Elizabethan manor have changed little.
Port Isaac a small fishing village was always on our list of must see due to it being the film location of Doc Martin as well as the movie Fisherman’s Friends. We parked on the outside of the town £5/day and walked down to the famous harbour. In the early days the port handled various cargoes and had a fishery. Tourism has been its mainstay ever since the end WWI mainly due to the decline in the pilchards (fish). There were many people enjoying the lovely warm afternoon. We filled up once again on a pasty as we watched the seagulls. We then walked around the village spotting some of the buildings used in Doc Martin.
Not far away was the Poldark Inn that allows overnight stays.
So we enjoyed a drink at the bar. One of the footy players was wearing a very interesting shaped hat which is reserved for the worst player of the day because he played like a dick. 😛
