The Saone River in Lyon

Stay: Montluel

After a traditional breakfast of coffee served in a bowl and a 'pain au chocolat', we set off back into Lyon. We hired a boat from the Confluence area- where the Saone and Rhone rivers meet. There has been a lot of new apartments built here along with a port, which reminded us of the Dockland area in Melbourne.

There were a lot if people around and as we got closer we found out that there was Sunday mass taking place from a boat.

We hired a boat for 4 hours.

We travelled up the Saone passing under 17 bridges and admiring the view of Lyon that many have seen in the past few centuries.

We moored for a picnic lunch just near the famous Paul Bocuse restaurant situated just after the Ille de Barb.

As we returned the hire boat we were lucky enough to see a demonstration of 'jousting on the river'.

Once back in Montluel we did some trip planning and then enjoyed a lovely BBQ fish dinner.
