Visited: Dubrovnik Croatia

Having parked Bluey we ventured to our cabin.

The ferry crossing started out quite rough. After chatting with an Australian couple we went for a walk to the front of the ship.

It was beautiful looking out into the darkness, looking at the stars and the light from the boat reflecting off the white caps on the waves. The wind was blowing strong and the boat was bouncing and crashing through the waves. All of a sudden we could see this huge wall of water coming our way and I was drenched! LOL We then decided to go back inside as we were getting cold but I was feeling a bit seasick. Luckily I had some tablets and then tried to get some sleep.

During the night things calmed down and we had a beautiful morning entering Dubrovnik harbour.

We were quickly out and driving to one of the many camps on offer. As we got there reasonably early we waited until the morning leavers had vacated a good spot and settled in.

We went for a walk down to the small beach and harbour and went to the ATM to withdraw some Kuna. We firstly tried to get 3000kn and no money came out...so tried again with 2000kn and had some success. We got 7kn to €1.  Feeling a little stressed wondering if we had been charged for the previous transaction, we rang the bank but as soon as I talked English they hung up! So I asked the lady at reception and she said it should be okay as the maximum daily ATM withdrawal in 2000kn! I will check my balance tonight just in case. We did a wash and some chatting. An English couple recognised us from last year where we meet in Freiberg! An amazing small world sometimes. Tomorrow we should also meet up with Mike and Jan from Perth...another chance meeting of being in the same place at the same time without planning it.

At 4:30pm we caught the bus to Dubrovnik and were pleasantly surprised of the ambiance of the old walled town. It is full of tourists, souvenir shops and restaurants, but it has a quality feel to the place that. We enjoyed strolling around the narrow streets eating our gelati and planning what we will visit tomorrow.
