Fanad Peninsula Donegal Ireland

Day 67/ Ireland 2
Travelled: 149km Wild Atlantic Way
Visited : Inishowen Peninsula & Fanad Peninsula - Donegal
Stay: Ballyhiernan Bay-beach parking area N55.2550 W7.6903

Not far down the road we stopped in Malin to have a look at Ireland’s 2nd largest stone bridge with its 10 arches straddling the Ballyboe River.

We then did a bit of shopping in Carndonagh before having breakfast at Pollan Beach.
We strolled along the 2 mile sandy shore and enjoyed picking out some interesting coloured pebbles.

Next we had a lovely short walk up to Glenevin Falls.

We then drove over Marmore Gap, stopping at the lookout to take in the amazing views.

Some of the wee roads we travelled on today..

Our next stop was Dunree Fort perched majestically on a rocky outcrop which played a vital defense role.

Beautiful coast line

After filling up with water at the Buncrana tourist centre, we did some more shopping in Letterkenny and then drove up to Fanad Head.

Every country has different signage

One of the many coulourful pubs seen today

Another interesting roundabout

We then searched out a possible spot to spend the night on google maps, which ended out being a winner.

Later we watched the sunset.
