Paimpol, France

Visited: Paimpol and did a boat trip.

This morning we went to Plouezec to do a bit of shopping at the weekly market. Although a small village it has a decent size church and the local shops and bar/cafe are thriving.

The main industry in the area is oysters, their beds can be seen when the tide is down twice a day. As the tide movement these last few days is only 5 meters the oyster farmers have not been out to cultivate them.
The persistent rain influenced our decision to go to Paimpol and spend a pleasant couple of hours. It is a very lovely port town which attracts many tourists all year round. This is reflected in the amount of restaurants on offer along with the many souvenir shops. We have been here three times before, so didn’t feel we had missed out by not wondering around the town.

We did have a look at the festival tent that was selling only goods and products from recycled materials. It’s always amazing the imagination that people have.
We enjoyed having The Menu for lunch.

Luckily after lunch we managed to have a walk along the coast and past a partly ruined abbey that is part of the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage Walk.

Then it was back to hop on Patrick’s boat with a couple of his fellow fishing friends. They go out everyday to pull up their pots and nets as at the moment it is spider crab season.

Unfortunately today was not a good catch, never the less, it was shared out and we had some crab for dinner! Yum.
