Freising Germany

Travelled:214km
Stay: Freising-dedicated free parking area N48.39609 E11.7469
We did a few extra kms more than necessary today as we went on a hunt to find a Camos (old GPS) dealer. The first one we picked couldn’t help us so we thought we better contact the other before we drove to the other side of Munich. As it turned out our monitor is ‘kaput’ and can no longer be repaired, but they do sell cable adapters (€32) available so that we can use the existing wiring to connect to any GPS monitor. Unfortunately we still need to get a Garmin video cable...so the search continues.  But we are one step closer to being able to use our reversing camera again.
During our travels we did manage to find Getrankemarkt (beer shop) which stocked Mark’s favourite brew Augustiner Hells. So we were set!
Next on things to do today was to go to Munich airport to plan our pick up point for tomorrow morning. We avoided the autobahn as we had witnessed a huge traffic jam when we travelled earlier going the other direction.

By 3pm we finally made it to Freising and feeling hungry and thirsty we set off to find the world’s longest established brewery, Weihenstephan. It was a good 30min walk making us appreciate the beer, pork knuckle and ribs that bit more! The beer garden was full as they watched the German team play in the soccer World Cup. (We left before the end but apparently they lost).

On the way back we worked off our meal and beers with a stroll through the colourful town centre.
We then went to the top of the hill to see the Basilica with a most decorative interior.

There were a few bears scattered all over town.
