La Manche-the northern coastal road.

Travelled:80km
Visited: lighthouses, forts, lookouts and ports.
Stay: Omonville la Rogue- free parking at the port. Services at camp ground. N49°42.4020' W1°50.2158

We had a beautiful day driving along the northern coastal road of La Manche.
We started the day with a walk to the boulangerie for some croissant for breakfast.

We loved the stone cottages in these pretty coastal villages with their white shutters.

Then we went to Point Barfleur where there is the Gatteville Lighthouse which is the 2nd highest in France, at 74.85m. There are 365 steps to the top and 52 windows.

After walking around we continued to Cape Levi and also stopped at the lighthouse there.
We really enjoyed the rugged coast with the wind and the waves crashing against the rocky shoreline.

We found a free service point in Cherbourg and then had some lunch. We had a look at the 2 free parking areas near the port but decided to move on as it was still early. The harbour in Cherbourg is the worlds' largest man-made harbour and was built in the 18th century.

On our way we stopped at a lovely lookout before reaching the port in Omonville la Rogue. Camy took us on some very narrow roads but we survived and popped out the other end unscathed!

We spent a bit of time watching the local fishermen taking their dingys out to their boats, going to check on their cray pots. We haven't managed to eat any local seafood yet, which we will have to remedy that very shortly...
