We had another lovely day driving around the Bay of Mont St.Michel, named after the fortified Abbey built on a small island just 600m from land. We enjoyed several view points as we made our way around, stopping several times.
Our first stop was just out from Carolles. We walked out to a Vauban built cabin used as a guarded border lookout.

We next stopped just before Avranches on the tip of a small peninsula at Grouin du Sud.

As we approached Mont St.Michel there was more traffic about. We drove through the carpark and were astounded at the size of it. If it was full I would hate to be visiting as there would be no room to move. We had fond memories of our visit 12 years ago and didn't feel it was necessary to go again. As amazing the structure is the narrow streets leading up to the the Abbey was full of tourist shops and a bit overwhelming. My father worked here as a pastry chef many years ago too. We managed to pass the town of Beauvoir and took a small country road and parked opposite the carpark and took in the view from there before the rain fell.

So on we went towards Cancale and stopped on the way to buy 1doz oysters €4.50 and 1kg moulles €3.50 which we devoured for lunch...yummy

Motorhome parking was a bit tricky on the Cancale harbour. So we did a quick drive through, took some photos and continued on.

At the SuperU shopping centre there is a free parking area for motorhomes but we decided just to do our washing and shopping and go. We were sure we could find a better spot especially in the low season it is easier. There is another aire here with paid parking and service point. We could enter for free for 1 hour, which we did to do our dumping and as it turned out the water was flowing for free, so we filled up too!

So we followed the coast road towards St.Malo and there were lots of No Camper signs on the way but we had programmed Camy with a spot from Camper Contact and to our surprise it took us to a parking area right next to a campground! There is also a beautiful beach and even a restaurant/cafe here too.
After a small bite to eat we went for a walk and then settled in for the night with 3 other campers.
