After having a chat with the kids on Skype we went for a bike ride along the Canal Central. We spotted a barge with an Australian flag and introduced ourselves. They are from Adelaide and are in their eleventh touring year.

Later we enjoyed a pizza and sat next to an English/Swedish couple who have been travelling on the canals for 7 years fulltime.

We managed to get a break in the stormy weather and ventured out to see the traditional band and watch the locals dance before heading for a walk through town.

Paray is a pretty and well kept town. The Sacred Heart Basilica built in the 12th century is the most imposing church but the couple of chapels in the town are beautiful inside. The pope even came to visit the town in 1986.

The Saint Nicholas Clock Tower.
The 16th Century Town Hall with a very decorative facade.

Pick your saint.

Mark was very happy when we found an exhibit on the Compagnonnage. A guild of tradesmen who travel through France to master their trade and then produce a piece of work to show off their skills.
We got back to Bluey just before the heavens opened up again!

Charles Pubill a master chocolatier and  1990 world champion. He was very excited to meet an Australian staircase builder.
