Guédelon Medieval Village France

Travelled: 190km
Visited: Guédelon Medieval Village, Decize
Stay: Decize free carpark opposite camp ground (Aire no longer exists) GPS N46°49.914' E3°27.664'

We arrived at Guédelon Medieval Village just after 9am. We entered the empty but hugh carpark off the country road in the middle of the forest and by the time we left at 2pm it was full!
16 years ago thet began building a 13th century castle. They are doing this by onlyusing 13th century methods. We spent a lovely time watching the quarrymen splitting stone, the masons carving the stone to shape and then others laying them, using tools made on site by the blacksmiths snd carpenters. They even made the 25,000 roof tiles, treadwheel cranes, rope....and more. They think it will take them another 10 years to complete.

From here we had a bit of a drive to an Aire in Decize on the Loire River. Unfortunately it has been closed down. However the lady at the tourist office assured us we could stay in the carpark outside the camp ground (only in France!)
We finally got a call about our parts for Bluey.... the missing door will arrive in Italy on Wednesday, possibly arrive in France by Monday the following week. But nothing can be confirmed until this Monday! Hmph
