Australia Outback NSW Sturt NP

Today we managed to get to Cameron’s Corner where 3 states meet, NSW, South Australia and Queensland. It was an all day journey, travelling 313km round trip.

We took the Silver City Hwy through the Gibber Plains to Jump Up Loop Road traversing many creeks (dry) towards Grey Range.

A bird hide at one the tanks

We were rewarded by a lovely view at the lookout.

At the Olive Downs camp ground we enjoyed a short walk.

From here we drove 94km on Middle Road before turning down Dunes Scenic Road to The SA border.
Overgrown tennis court...
One of the creek beds we crossed.
Safety first even all the way out here.
One of the classics.
Old water tanks
Nearly there...

The gate was open so we could drive the short distance to the boundary survey marker.

The gates were truly locked into QLD leaving not doubt that we were not to enter.

The corner store we could not get to visit.

The other famous land mark here is the Dog Fence...the longest fence in the world.

We retraced our steps back through the gate into NSW. We stopped at Fort Grey camp ground and did the 4km Well’s walk with lots of information along the way.

Remains of a brush fence -trees were stacked on top of each other..
Pink cockatoos.
Info on Sturt’s expedition.
Then it was 120km back on the main road back to Tibooburra calling it a day.

Another night at Granites Campground $24 unpowered
