Australia Outback NSW Menindee

Travelled: 187km Pooncarie to Menindee Visited: Kinchega National Park $8/day per car
Stay: Pamamaroo Lake free bush camp (-32.313764, 142.480823)

The small amount of rain last night barely settled the dust.

After our morning coffee we drove into town and had a hot shower $1/5mins.

We then continued on towards Menindee. The road is closed after heavy rain. Luckily it was passable and we had a good run. We managed to spot a few kangaroos along the way.

The Darling River.

A woolshed.

In Menindee we got a map of Kinchega National Park and were told which roads were closed at the information centre. Before leaving home we purchased an annual NSW National Park pass -$45 for rural areas. So we didn’t need to stop to purchase the $8 daily entry ticket. It wasn’t far to the main attraction- the Woolshed.

Lots of these toxic melons growing wild...

We then went to the homestead ruins and did the 2.3km billabong walk.

Not much left of the homestead.

On our way out to Pamamaroo Lake we stopped to see the story of one of Burke’s  camel drivers and had a look at Burke and Wills campsite before settling on the shores of the lake.

Mark watched the bombers win over Sydney and then we ended the day with a beautiful sunset.
