Australia Outback NSW Louth

Louth
It was a relatively easy 90km drive from Tilpa to Louth this morning, another small town on the banks of the Darling River. 



established in 1859 when Thomas Mathews built a pub here. 


Unfortunately his wife died 10 years later, so he got a large cross made to be placed in the cemetery...read below.
A few sad stories reflected here..


 The town comes alive when the Louth Races are held here every August. It appears the drought has been tough in the sport oval too.

We set up camp in the common next to the river and enjoyed the atmosphere!
