After breakfast we said our goodbyes and drove out from Port Lazo in the direction of Rennes. Our aim was to arrive at a mattress shop before the lunchtime closing time. We succeeded in ordering a new and hopefully more comfortable mattress for Bluey. As it’s only foam rubber they were able to cut to shape and cover it by the end of the next day. We then made our way to my cousin’s (Pascal and Jacqueline) farm near La Bouëxière for lunch with their daughter Cecile (and her lovely children) and my Auntie Marie. We spent a wonderful afternoon catching up and then meeting later at Marie’s home for dinner.

The next day we spent a lovely time catching up with my cousin Annick and Fernand who live in the house my father was born in.

After picking up our new mattress in Rennes we made our way back and enjoyed dinner at Pascal and Jacqueline’s. In the morning we said farewell before continuing on our journey. We stopped in Chateaubourg and walked around the market and had a look at the church.

The church had an amazing large dome.

In Domagné we admired the dedication and workmanship of one man’s passion to recreate in miniature form some French monuments. After retirement he began his quest for the next 20 years. After his death in 2016 the municipal decided to move his pieces to a park in town.

The sculpture park at Le Chateau des Pères was very interesting. They were made from different materials including metal, wood, stone and resin. The Chateau is now used as a reception venue.

An unusual new hotel is currently being built in a shape of a tree.

Nearby we went to have a look at La Roche aux Fées which is a large Neolithic Dolmen structure. It is always fascinating how these were constructed.

Next we went for a stroll through the gardens of the Chateau in Craon.

Our final stop was Chateau Gontier where we managed to a find a spot on the banks of the Mayenne River along with 20 or so other motorhomes.
