Travelled:99km and ferry from Ardgour to Corran 600m £8.50
Stay: Duror on Loch Linnhe - free parking N56.6434 W5.2969
Visited: Glencoe National Trust visitors centre, Ballachulish
The rain once again accompanied us this morning as we drove back along B8007 and then turning right on the A861 to Ardgour. We got in line to catch the ferry to Corran, only 600m across Loch Linnhe. The other alternative was to drive an extra 70km back up to Fort William. We didn’t have long to wait and we made use of our time by having breakfast.
We then made our way to the Glencoe National Trust Visitors Centre and took refuge from the wet weather to learn a bit about the area. It has a tragic past with the massacre of the MacDonald Clan in 1692. It is a popular area for mountain climbers to bag no less than 8 Munros.
Unfortunately the weather was not friendly for walking some of the 35miles of tracks, so we returned to Bluey and Mark watched another ripper Bombers game. By this time the rain had cleared but we were delayed by a bus and car accident on the main road. We made our way to the next town, Ballachulish, to explore the slate quarry.
We then enjoyed a walk through an enchanting pine forest to the remains of an old village, Brecklet.
After a quick shop at the Co-op we were in our way along the Argyll Coast Road to a P4N spot the sounded ok and didn’t disappoint with wonderful views of the Loch.
What amazing places you have visited, what great scenery even through the rain and mist. Enjoying going on your journey with you.
