Cologne/Koln Germany

Travelled :45km
Visited/Stay: Cologne- stellplatz parking for 60 motorhomes €10/24hrs, € electricity, service point in parking outside. 3km from centre. GPS N50.962379 E6.985940

We had an easy drive on the motorway to Cologne and managed to fill one of a few just vacated spots. We had some breaky and got on the bikes to ride along the Rhine River 3km to the centre of town. We locked our bikes among others just near the Cathedral and promptly went to visit this most famous Gothic structure in Germany. Although the foundation stone was laid in 1248, it was not completed until 1880 to its original design. The stain glass windows were beautiful. The oak stalls were built in 1311. The Shrine of the Three Kings hold their relics. The Altar of the Magi is dedicated to the Three Kings.

From here we walked through the old quarter. There were many civil wedding ceremonies being conducted at the Rathaus.

We made our way to the colourful houses on Fischmarkt.

We stopped to try out the local brew Fruh.

Anybody remember the 4711 eau de Cologne?

We returned to our bikes after walking along the main shopping street along with 1000's of others  and made our way back to the Rhine. It was very busy here too.

We slowly made our way back to Bluey and relaxed and planned 'where to from here?'. After dinner we enjoyed a stroll along the Rhine.

Who would have thought there would be sheep here!

We spent the evening chatting to a lovely English couple who have come here to watch their local football team -Stokes play.
