Worms to Bacharach

Travelled:76km
Visited:Worms, Bacharach on the Rhine River
Stay:Bacharach-€8 parking, € services GPS N50.05693 E7.77076

We rode into the centre of Worms which is considered to be the oldest town in Germany. We were surprised at how quiet it was and after consulting google we found out that today is German Unity Day, the only National public holiday in Germany. We had a look at St.Peter Cathedral and a statue of Martin Luther. After a short ride along the river and a pit stop, we decided to head off to another village situated further down stream.

An hour later we were parked up in Bacharach. We had a bite to eat before riding the bikes along the river again. We then spent a couple of hours walking around admiring the old half timbered buildings in the medieval village set amongst the steep vineyards. Very picturesque.

Later we enjoyed sitting and watching the barges going up and down the river before having moules for dinner. A very pleasant day.
