The Nullarbor to Norseman WA

Today (6 days into our trip) was our final push across the Nullarbor doing 519km from Madura to Norseman, ending our 1200km journey from Ceduna.

One of the things we love about being out here are the sunsets and sunrises… so spectacular and such a lovely way to end and start the day.

We set off again after a cuppa around 7:30am. The traffic continues to be fairly light with a few trucks, but mostly travellers, making their way either East or West.
We stopped for the obligatory photo at the 90 Mile Straight sign (at both ends!).
We had breakfast at Cocklebiddy Roadhouse.
Although there are caution signs for kangaroos, emus and camels, we have not seen one except a few dead Roos. Along this stretch of road we have seen a few more bird species and were lucky enough to spot a Wedge Tail Eagle.
Further along there was evidence of a fire with many burnt trees. Unfortunately, in early 2024, 20,000 hectares of the Great Western Woodland - the largest temperate woodland left on earth the size larger than England and Wales- was destroyed.
After another rest break at the Balladonia, I drove the last 190km to Norseman arriving at 2pm (we had to wind the clocks back another 45mins). The free camp was already quite full.
We parked up and went to stretch our legs with a walk into town. Not much has changed since 2021 when we came here twice, the second time we were stuck here due to Covid border shutdowns!
The weather was chilly so we returned to Buster and relaxed until the Bombers game then called it a night.
