Day 13, France
Travelled: 63km from Loctudy to Pont l’Abbe, Concarneau and Point de Trevignon (free aire nearby next to the beach (47.7973,-3.8301)After a slow start, we wondered 15mins up to Pont l’Abbe which is nestled at the bottom of the estuary. The most notable features are the inhabited bridge and the castle.
It was also here that the famous Breton headdress gained its height, honouring the skill of the embroiderers.
As we were driving through Concarneau we managed to find a parking spot near the walled town which is on a small island 350m long and 100m wide.
We wondered through its narrow street lined with tourist shops and restaurants.
We returned along the ramparts, built in the 14th C offering views of the port which is a leading tuna port in Europe and the 3rd in France for fresh fish.
Close by to the Pointe de Trevignon is an aire for the camping cars and we bagged a spot.
So we pulled up stumps for the rest of the day. We enjoyed a walk along the beach and a quiet evening.
