North Yorkshire England

Travelled:62km
Visited: Nunnington Hall (National Trust £10.30pp)
Stay: Newgate Banks free parking area in forest of North York Moors (near Hemsley) N54.2941 W1.1333

It was all happening at the York racecourse this morning...no horses were racing but every man, woman and dog was coming for a run. There was also a car boot sale on down one end and a music festival down the other! On our drive out of York we stopped in at Tesco for some fuel and a few more provisions for Bluey’s cupboards. We then made our way through some beautiful countryside and some very pretty villages to Nunnington Hall.

We managed to have a stroll through the gardens before the skies opened up again and it started to rain.

We then spent a dry and warm hour or so exploring the Yorkshire manor house. There is always a splendid amount of history with the interesting lives of the previous owners and the architecture elements of each room.

In the attic rooms there was a wonderful wildlife photograph exhibition.

There was also an amazing collection of miniature rooms.

After some lunch we drove a short distance to picturesque Hemsley but decided that as it was still raining we may as well park up in the forest and wait until tomorrow to visit the village. Weather forecast predicts no rain...we shall wait and see...either way Mark is prepared for all kinds of weather with his new hat to add to the collection!
