Loches et Montrésor

Travelled: 70km
Stay: Montrésor - Aire free parking ans services N47°09.464' E1°12.100' / 47.15782, 1.20154

Drove to Loches and walked around the medieval town which has one of the oldest chateaux in the Loire Valley as well as the highest keep that imprisoned many famous inmates in its time.

We then set off to Montrésor and were the first ones in the Aire. We went to visit the Gothic church and the chateau founded in 1005 then rebuilt in Renaissance style in the 1500's. It is still owned by the descendants of an exiled Polish count who bought the castle in 1849 and reflects the opulent Second Empire decor with an interesting art collection.
