Stay: Chenonceaux - parking just outside of Chateau near train station 47.33059, 1.06696
Woke to a foggy start to a sunny day. We drove to Chenonceau Chateau and spent the rest of the lovely day visiting the Chateau and its beautiful gardens.
It was built in the early 16th century, after the original owners could no longer afford to keep it, Henry II donated it to his mistress Diane de Poitiers, who after his death, was evicted by his wife the Queen Mother, Catherine de Medici. It known as the Ladies' Chateau and has been occupied by Louise of Lorraine, Louise Dupin, Marguerite Pelouze and Simone Menier.
