Market Day Darwin NT

Sunday found us beginning and ending our day at a market… Nightcliff for breakfast and Mindil Beach for dinner. In between we visited the Botanical Gardens, the Museum and Art Gallery and Cullen Bay Marina.

We began the day at Rapid Creek, a popular spot for walks and rides along the coastal path which led us to Nightcliff jetty. The area has beautiful coloured cliffs.

After a walk out onto the jetty we made our way to the morning market.

There were a few stalls selling jewellery and clothes, fresh fruit and veg, but mostly food. We opted for some tasty  fresh spring rolls.

We then made our way to the Botanical Gardens and had a walk to through a few sections. We saw a dragon, a crocodile and a couple of dinosaurs…

Then it was off to the Museum and Art Gallery (free entry). There was an amazing aboriginal art exhibition.

Displays of the natural fauna of the area.

Extensive information of Cyclone Tracy.

The history of Darwin.

A Boat exhibit.

Overall a very informative visit.

From here we chilled out at Cullen Bay Marina…. And guess what? We bumped into Gavin and Robyn.

After a chat we met up again at Mindil Beach Sunset Market. We got there before it officially opens at 4pm, found ourselves a table and shared a few plates of food.

Then of course we had to make our way to the very crowded beach to view the sunset, which we have to admit was quite spectacular. The low tide created a stairway to the sun… finishing off with the camels and a few sailboats to create a good photo opportunity.

Then it was back to camp… feeling pretty tired after another busy day.
