To Jorpeland

Travelled: 165km along Ryfylke Rv13 National Route plus 1 ferry Nesvik-Hjelmeland
Stay: 3km south of Jorpeland on Rv13, free rest area and service point (park4night) 59.0055 6.0702

Today we were taking our time on our approach to Preikestolen-Pulpit Rock. The weather was improving for tomorrow (although it was not too bad today) so we wanted to be close for an early start the next morning.

We continued along the Rv46 and then turned north on the RV13 to Sand. There was no less than 11 tunnels just to get there. In Sand we stopped to visit the Hose bridge over the Sudalslagen river which is next to a salmon ladder and viewing area.

The Sand aire was chockablock with trucks either taking a load on or off a boat.

We then back tracked south and continued on the Rv13, taking the ferry from Nesvik to Hjelmeland (95nok = 6m 79 + 16 senior).

This little island is camouflaged in the mountain reflection.

It's not only bike riders we need to contend with...

We then went in search for a couple of walks but they were a bit illusive, although we did manage to find the 'Fairytale Forest' in Ardal with wooden sculptures. Definitely for the child within but quaint never the less...

Anyway after a few more tunnels and bridges we arrived in Jorpeland, the main town at the base of Preikestilen- Pulpit Rock. We got some info from the tourist office and then did some shopping before heading off to find a spot nearby for an early start tomorrow morning. Being a free service point there was plenty of comings and goings but the most interesting was an English couple,Rob and Trees, who had done the walk today and had met another English couple, Tim and Indie, whom we had met a few years ago on our travels. It can be a small world.
