To col de Glandon France

Day 79 Wednesday 22 July 2026

We had a peaceful night at the Col de Madeleine. After breakfast we went for a short 1 hour hike to the little Lake of Tritons which offered lovely views.

Then down the mountain we went stopping briefly in Longchamps.

We turned off before reaching the valley to go to the Col de Chaussy. It was an interesting and pretty drive with lots of narrow bits.

Unfortunately the section of road we wanted to take with the 18 hairpin turns had a 6m length restriction so we had to do a detour.

Down in the valley we stopped to do a bit a shopping and then drove up to the Col de Glandon (2014). It was quite busy but we managed to fund a parking spot and moved a few times as the cars left later in the afternoon.

Mont Blanc

The internet was terrible so we drove down via the Col de Croix de Fers and parked overlooking the village of St.Sorlin d’Arves.

78km
