Sens France

Today the rain persisted for most of the day as we went to visit Sens.

But first we needed to repair an insistent leak in the drivers’ side back tyre. The fellow at Speedy was quick (pardon the pun) and €27 later we were on our way once more.

In Sens we donned our raincoats and used our umbrellas to go and walk around the historic centre.

The St.Etienne cathedral, built in the mid 1100’s, it  is one of the oldest gothic cathedrals in France. It had flamboyant style facades and beautiful stained glass windows.

The museum is housed in an old palace and has lovely glazed tiles on its roof.

The market hall was built in the 19th century but was not open today.

This 16th century half timbered house had many carved motifs.

We also admired the restoration work done on the Hotel de Ville.

The was coming down in earnest now so it was a good time to choose a restaurant for lunch. We picked the small one at the butchers and thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

The rain had eased a little as we walked back to Bluey and we made our way a little further south to a small village with an aire in St.Julien du Sault (stayed here in 2014). Later the rain cleared and we ventured out for a stroll before the day was done.

80km today
