Bray Region France

It’s a fresh but sunny start to the day. We go for a stroll to the castle in Mesnieres en Bray, that is now a college. Last time we were (2019) here the grounds were open but not today.

Not far from here was Val Ygot where V1 rockets were launched from during WWII by the German’s towards London (also visited in 2019).

We stopped in Bellencombre for a baguette and a croissant.

Then continued on to St.Saens a charming old town with a big gothic church at its centre.

Along the river was an old press used on apples make cidre and calvados.

Many of the buildings were made with flint stone.

Further along we came to Buthy which had a Viking festival on. We admired the 17th century wooden market halls and the church.

In Ry we spotted one parking space reserved for camping cars and decided that it was as good a place as any to stay.

The Grand Rue is lined with some lovely buildings and there are panels explaining the significance of some in relation to a novel, Madam Bovary, written by Gustave Flaubert. It was a peaceful spot with only the occasional car stooping to have a look around. We sat outside enjoying the dwindling sunshine before it got too cold.

It was a lovely easy 50km day
