Bonjour Paris

Here we are. 0 Celsius. Waiting for luggage. All is well. We cleared customs (8 guards standing at the exit looking at us walk past with our luggage) no problems. Just a little quicker than Australia! I suppose Australia has a lot to protect. We were kindly greeted by my cousin, her husband and son who traveled 4 1/2 hours the night before to come and get us. They didn’t trust us not to kill our selves trying to drive through Paris after a 24 hour flight and hardly any sleep. Very clever people and by the end of the day, we were very grateful. We drove through Paris past the Arc de Triumph and down the Champs Elysee. The smell of coffee coming from the cafes was magnificent. The beautiful buildings..the icons of Paris…the Louvre, the Eiffel  Tower, the gardens, the River Siene… all here. Found a lovely Bistro for lunch. Then it was time to head off to the Motorhome. The rest of Paris will have to wait for another day later in the trip. 4 hours later we set our eyes on our transport and accommodation for the next 7 months. Still in the middle of getting the extras fitted we discussed for the next 1 1/2 hours how the reversing camera and inverter will be installed and where we could put a safe. Feeling very over done we finally set off for my cousins place after some quick shopping. Arrived home for dinner at 8.45pm ending a total of 48 hours travel…cant believe I’m still standing. Had a lovely dinner and finally hit the pillow at 11pm. Phew..but what a day!
Its amazing what a good sleep will do. After breakfast…a bowl of coffee with buttered bread, we went for a walk and then sorted out a few things. Then headed off to the appointment with the insurance company. (You can’t drive unless you have insurance) Got a great price which also included 3rd party insurance (very important to have and only it cost 50 euros. But because we were taking out 2 policies we got 2 months free insurance on the motorhome giving us 73 euros discount. Bottom line 23 euros off the total price) Aahh the French work in mysterious ways, but we’re not complaining this time! Did a bit of shopping and tried to work out a sim for the iphone….the plans are just as confusing as in Australia. What is it with telecommunications? Anyway it will be tomorrows job.
