Day 21 Tuesday 20th October 2026
It was only a 15km drive into Gundagai this morning. We parked up and had a stroll through town. We have stayed here 3 times before, over the years since 2000, as its a popular place to stop as a halfway point between Melbourne and Sydney just off the Hume Highway. Each time we discover something different.
It is a picturesque country town in the beautiful Riverina area on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. There are some lovely historical buildings to admire, as well as some major landmarks including the old bridges.
We found a nice spot in the popular RV park on the banks of Morleys Creek and decided we may as well stay.
We walked to the cemetery to see the bushranger, Captain Moonlite’s, grave.
Then enjoyed another quiet evening.
Day 22 Wednesday 21st October 2026
We take a different route out of Gundagai, driving 45km towards Junee. We pulled into the Sandy Beach camping area on the bank of the Murrumbidgee River and thought it’s a good place to spend the night.
Later Mark got motivated and changed one of the usb sockets to a cigarette socket in the Buster’s centre console.
We are enjoying the slowed pace this trip.
