Araluen NSW Australia

Day 28 Tuesday 27 October 2026

A very frosty start to the day but Busters’ heater did the trick to warm us up along with our morning coffee and then we were off heading south to Lake George where we stopped in at a couple of rest areas that were dedicated to soldiers that were given VC medals due to their valour in battle and consequently lost their lives… very sad and inspirational.

We stopped in Bungendore for fuel ($2.75) and had a walk around the block that mainly had cafes and touristy shops. Obviously a popular stopping point between the coast and Canberra.

We also had a walk around the historical town of Braidwood. We couldn’t resist a pie for brunch…

Another 21km later we arrived at a campsite in Araluen.  There were a few others here and we had a peaceful night. It was an old gold mining area.

142km today
