Cootamundra NSW Australia

Day 25 Saturday 24th October 2026

We left our lovely spot on the dam and drove 28km to Cootamundra. The town is surrounded by wide open spaces, lush and green rolling hills, and nestled amongst rich and award winning farming and grazing land. It is associated with the Cootamundra Wattle.

It also holds a special link to Australia’s greatest sportsman, the cricketing legend, Donald Bradman, as it was his birthplace in 1908. Keeping the cricket theme the
Captains' Walk is a collection of bronze busts honouring Australian Test cricket captains which is located in Jubilee Park.

Then it was time to turn south and head to Jugiong for the night. The campground, set on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River, is a popular stop for those travelling along the Hume Highway.

There is not much of a town but The Sir George is  an iconic, historic country pub built in 1852 offers travellers a pub meal whilst next door the Long Track Pantry is a popular local gourmet cafe and produce store.

We also read about the local bushranger.

Then it was back to Buster to watch the Blue Wrens flitter about and the river flowing past.
